The Kindred Collective is a Detroit-rooted, Black woman-led education organization creating meaningful experiences that prepare young people for college, leadership and life. We are unapologetically Black-centered and a place where education, history, social justice, culture, joy, community-building and travel converge. Through HBCU exposure, immersive educational experiences and intentional youth development, we help young people expand what they know, explore what’s possible and build the skills, relationships and confidence to pursue what comes next.

The Final Decision HBCU Tour takes Detroit-area students on a seven-day journey to 10 of the nation’s most sought-after HBCUs across the East Coast and South. Created after years of watching seniors and families navigate major college decisions alongside the rush of spring deadlines, prom and graduation, this experience gives students a valuable head start.
The schools were intentionally selected to offer strong options across campus environments, academic interests and HBCU traditions, with support along the way to help students think critically about fit, finances and their next move. Traveling in February also means fewer spring-break crowds and more room to experience campuses as they really are. And in true Kindred fashion, college exploration shares the week with culture, community and plenty of fun—including the Kindred ATL Experience and a Winter Experience in the Smokies.

The Spring in the South HBCU Tour is the newest chapter of our classic HBCU tour experience that has taken hundreds of students across the country to explore college, culture and possibility together. This seven-day journey introduces students to 11 distinctive HBCUs across the South, from nationally sought-after institutions to campuses
The Spring in the South HBCU Tour is the newest chapter of our classic HBCU tour experience that has taken hundreds of students across the country to explore college, culture and possibility together. This seven-day journey introduces students to 11 distinctive HBCUs across the South, from nationally sought-after institutions to campuses students may not have considered before. Students experience HBCU life firsthand while exploring the history, culture and communities that make these institutions—and the South itself—so special. And because some of the best learning happens beyond campus gates, the week includes cultural experiences, attractions, entertainment and our Kindred Food + Culture NOLA Experience.
Our work runs on community power.
Families. Donors. Alumni. Mentors. Partners. If you believe in the promise of Black youth, there's a seat for you at this table. Whether through giving, sponsoring, or volunteering -- your impact lasts a lifetime.
