Grades 9–12
11 HBCUs • 7 Days • One Unforgettable Journey Through the South
The Spring in the South HBCU Tour brings back the classic Kindred experience that has taken hundreds of students across the country to explore college, culture and possibility together. This time, we're heading South for seven days through 11 HBCUs across five states, giving students the chance to experience everything from nationally sought-after institutions to campuses they may discover and fall in love with along the way.
But around here, the campus is never the entire classroom. Students will experience the history, food, culture, people and joy of the South too—with the Kindred Food + Culture NOLA Experience, Black history and cultural stops, signature entertainment, game nights, rec stops and plenty of room to build friendships and make memories along the way.
This is college exploration, the Kindred way.
We've intentionally built a lineup that exposes students to different campus environments, academic strengths, histories and HBCU traditions—because finding the right school starts with knowing just how many possibilities exist.
Campus experiences may include admissions and financial-aid presentations, guided or ambassador-led tours, student conversations and other opportunities based on university availability.
A college tour can introduce a student to what's possible. We want them prepared to do something with what they discover.
Before departure, Spring in the South students participate in two interactive Kindred Development Days alongside our Final Decision cohort. Sessions are led by trusted community leaders and partners who are already doing the work—bringing real experience, practical tools and honest conversation into the room.

After we return, students come back together to turn seven days of exposure into an actual plan. What did you learn? What schools moved up—or off—your list? What do you need to work on? What opportunities should you pursue next?
Students leave with next steps tailored to where they are in their high-school journey.
Every season is intentionally curated around the students, campuses, cities and opportunities we encounter. Students and families can expect:
