The Kindred Fellowship

College Tours + Prep for Life & Legacy

College Tours + Prep for Life & Legacy

College Tours + Prep for Life & Legacy

The Kindred Fellowship is a first-of-its-kind, four-year guided experience designed to radically shift what college preparation looks and feels like for Black youth and their families. Built for high school students and families who want more than just a college tour, this program pairs HBCU campus tours with real-world skill-building, strategic mentorship, and cultural truth — every single year of high school.

We’re not just exposing students to Black colleges. We’re walking with them from curiosity to college admission — and beyond.

Imagine Your Student: Year by Year

This isn’t just a program. It’s a four-year transformation, for families who opt in each year. One designed to shape, sharpen, and support students at every critical stage between childhood and adulthood.

You know your student. You’ve watched their strengths shine and seen their struggles. Now… imagine what’s possible when they’re surrounded by structure, strategy, and cultural truth.

We don’t just expose them to HBCUs — we walk with them as they grow into the kind of young people who not only get in, but thrive.

Year by Year Transformation

College Tours + Prep for Life & Legacy

College Tours + Prep for Life & Legacy

For students and families who opt-in to the Fellowship each year, they experience intentional investment and preparation for what lies ahead and tools to navigate where they are. The curriculum builds and changes or expands each year so that no year is the same.

The Foundation Year

They might arrive unsure, excited, or maybe just curious. By the end of Year 1, your child is:

  • Grounded in who they are as a young Black leader
Exposed to the truth and legacy of Black colleges — not just the photos, but the feeling
  • Starting to advocate for themselves with guidance and care
  • Developing discipline, confidence, and a new vision of what’s possible

📌 You’ll notice your child talks differently. They start asking bigger questions. Their spark gets direction.

Year 2: Resilient

The Strengthening Year

This is when life starts lifing. Sophomore year is full of distractions and doubt — but with us, they’re not alone. By the end of Year 2, your student is:

  • Learning how to handle rejection, regulate emotions, and choose healthy relationships
  • Growing in confidence — not fake confidence, but inner conviction
  • Understanding what’s required to become a strong candidate for their dream schools

📌 You’ll notice maturity settling in. They’re less reactive, more focused. Their goals start coming with plans.

Year 3: Recognized

The Stretch Year

Junior year can be make-or-break. It’s test scores, GPAs, leadership, and pressure. But here? It’s also vision.

By the end of Year 3, your child is:

  • Speaking up and standing out — on purpose
  • Narrowing their college list with intention and support
  • Beginning personal statements, scholarship essays, and resumes with real experience to pull from

📌 You’ll see them in their bag. They begin moving like a responsible scholar. You might even start asking them for advice.

Year 4: Ready

The Launch Year

Senior year is not the end — it’s the launch pad. By the end of Year 4, your student is:

  • Touring HBCUs with clarity and confidence
  • Leading younger fellows, not just following
  • Applying to college, earning scholarships, and preparing to move into adulthood with pride

📌 You’ll witness the child you raised become the adult you prayed for. And it won’t feel like a surprise — it’ll feel like legacy.

What You Actually Receive

College Tours + Prep for Life & Legacy

Tuition + Fundraising Roadmap

This isn't a passive program. This is real, relevant, and rigorously designed for transformation. Our Kindred Fellowship delivers the following:

1. HBCU Travel + Tour Experiences

More than just a bus ride. Fellows take part in our high-impact, culturally affirming HBCU Tour, From the D to the Yard™, with exclusive access, intentional route curation, private admissions events, and time to reflect with peers. Our signature Kindred experiences and Power Prep Workshop led by our HBCU faculty partner, make this tour unforgettable and strategic.

2. Kindred Power Labs: Masterclasses in Black Excellence + Real-World Readiness

These monthly Saturday intensives are our crown jewel. Think of them as:

  • Adulting Bootcamps where students train for real life
  • Leadership Labs where voices get sharpened
  • Culture Clinics where Black youth feel seen, centered, and powerful

Topics range from emotional intelligence, safety and self-advocacy, to branding, interview skills, mental health, moving away from home, and money mindset — all led by dynamic Black professionals who bring both wisdom and care. This alone is worth the investment.

3. Winter Retreat: “Loving Ourselves + Each Other”

A powerful February weekend retreat, anchored in identity, healthy self-image and esteem, relationships, leadership, and  joy. Students explore healthy boundaries, confidence, rejection, and emotional growth — all in a cozy retreat-style environment built for connection and collective wellness.

4. Strategic Advising + Academic Support

Each fellow receives 1:1 guidance throughout the year. We help students identify dream schools, understand admissions trends, track key milestones, and develop competitive resumes and personal statements. We don’t just dream — we plan.

5. Fundraising Tools + Coaching

We help students raise real money, with dignity. Through the Storytelling and Double Good fundraisers, fellows develop their voice, gain community backing, and practice the financial hustle it takes to thrive in college and beyond. All tools, templates, and coaching included.

6. The Kindred Community

This is the soul of it all. From day one, your student is surrounded by affirming mentors, powerful peers, and a culture of Black excellence. Our culture keeps students coming back, and our consistency makes the journey feel like family.

📌Fellows receive professional headshots and take part in our Kindred Power Shoot to represent themselves with excellence — because first impressions matter.
